ATASA

Welcome to ATASA

Aerospace Training Academy of South Africa is an institution of higher learning, comprising three divisions:

These divisions are further subdivided into several other respective sub-parts.

The School Of Engineering

The Engineering School offers programs in aircraft maintenance and overhaul, aircraft performance engineering, simulators, and other equipment used to support aircraft during inspection and testing.

ATASA Academy provides a variety of standard education needs to the Aviation industry. The main course prepared for the 2023/2024 roll-out is Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. The course is structured to offer students a One-Year Certificate and/or a Three-Year Diploma.

The Certificate course is similar to the apprenticeship program offered by many other aviation training organizations and prepares students to become Aircraft Engineers. Students can choose between the following courses:

Aircraft Instruments

Aircraft instrument mechanics specialize in repairing, testing, and installing sensitive electronic instruments used in navigation and flight, such as autopilots and electronic compasses. With a focus on precision, they trace circuits, measure values, and work with delicate equipment. Their training covers electricity, magnetism, and electronics, alongside the theory of aircraft instruments. Responsibilities also include airframe repairs, manufacturing panels, and handling components made of rubber, plastic, and fiberglass for aircraft and ground equipment.

Aircraft Radio

Aircraft radiotricians are skilled professionals responsible for maintaining, repairing, testing, and installing radio communication equipment used in the aviation industry. Using overhaul manuals as guides, they ensure all basic aircraft systems meet industry standards. Their expertise ensures repaired and tested radio equipment is properly installed and fully operational within the aircraft.

Aircraft Electrical

Aircraft electricians ensure the reliability of electrical systems critical to modern aircraft performance. They diagnose faults, perform inspections, and handle the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of electrical components. Responsibilities include wiring aircraft, repairing, and installing electrical systems to ensure consistent power supply. Proficiency in using electronic test equipment is essential to their role.

Aircraft Avionics
